ORGANIZATION: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services

Marillac St. Vincent Family Services seeks 15-20 volunteers to assist with our Annual Beacon of Hope fundraising event downtown on Friday, October 12 th, 2018 at the Union League of Chicago, 65 West Jackson Blvd. The event features lunch, keynote speakers, and a paddle raise for attendees. This is a great opportunity to complete community service hours!

Marillac St. Vincent Family Services has been working to end the cycle of poverty and violence in the city of Chicago for over 100 years. Sponsored by the Daughters of Charity, we provide quality child care, early childhood education, after-school programs, support for pregnant teens, comprehensive services for isolated seniors, and outreach to at-risk families and individuals.

Volunteer Responsibilities for the Beacon of Hope:

  • Greet guests as they arrive and direct attendees to their assigned tables.
  • Assist with checking in anyone who hasn’t already paid for their ticket.
  • Paddle spotters - during our Paddle Raiser, direct the emcee’s attention to the table where a guest is raising a paddle; assist guests with completing paddle cards; collecting the paddle cards and returning cards to MSV staff.
  • Pick up/collect program materials from tables.

  • Dress: Black dress pants or skirt. Dark dress shoes. Per Union League dress code: business casual attire; no jeans or gym/athletic shoes, please.

  • Timeframe:
    • 10:30 - arrive/check in with volunteer coordinator.
    • 10:40 - Overview/orientation
    • 11:00-11:30 - Lunch
    • 11:30-1:30/2:00 - Event and clean-up
    • 1:30/2:00 - Depart
