Join City of Raleigh Parks Staff as we remove invasive plants from the Raleigh Rose Garden.
Volunteer Impact: Invasive plants out compete our native species and spread quickly. Removing these plants will help native species to flourish.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be using hand tools (loppers, pruners, and hand saws) to remove invasive plants. We will also need help dragging and stacking the cut debris to be hauled away.
Special Information: We will supply tools, gloves, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first-aid kit. All volunteers will need to wear loose comfortable clothing, and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or work/hiking boots.
Work Environment: This project will take place on a hill with a steep incline and uneven ground. We will be working outside so please dress for the weather. There is a restroom on location.
Volunteer Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form that will be sent to them prior to the event.
**Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If interested in registering a group, please email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov . We require a list of names and their email addresses to hold spots for groups.*
Per department policy this event cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
