Tom in the STAR Center
The STAR Center is open to the public and specializes in assistive technology for individuals with disabilities.

The Special Technology Access Resource (STAR) Center is a 100% volunteer-manned public access computer lab. Our mission is to empower people of widely varying abilities and disabilities to build community using computers, the internet, and assistive technology.

Because we are a non-profit, we rely on the dedication and eagerness of our volunteers to keep our lab running! Volunteers are required to greet and assist visitors to the lab, direct visitors to appropriate technology and equipment when able, and maintain a neat and orderly environment in the lab. Basic computer skills and troubleshooting skills are a plus as many of our users are new to tech.

Often times people with disabilities live in social isolation, and may feel overwhelmed by the task of navigating unfamiliar technology. You can be the one to help them through this process!
