During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Loyola Medicine Hospice is looking for a few good people who are interested in being companions for those with a terminal illness. As a hospice volunteer you will sit with hospice patients and offer companionship in the form of conversation, playing games, sitting together and watching a movie, being present, and/or reading quietly to them. Sometimes just being there (so they aren't alone) is enough.
Training takes place at our Oak Brook office. Full training is provided and lasts about six hours. Most people do the training over two non-consecutive days, but if you prefer you can do it all at once also. Some people do one hour at a time. It's all up to you and your schedule.
Loyola Medicine Hospice provides quality care for individuals with a non-curable terminal illness and helps families through this difficult time. Our volunteers enhance this focus and provide a quality of life above and beyond what the rest of the hospice team and do.

We are a Trinity Home Health Services agency. We serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.
For patients experiencing life-limiting illnesses or injuries, Loyola Medicine’s hospice program provides compassionate and comprehensive care to adult and pediatric patients. Hospice care is for patients with terminal illness or injury and intended to provide comfort and relief from pain, allowing for the highest quality of life possible during the time that remains.
Loyola’s skilled doctors, nurses, therapists, chaplains and home health aides provide care that focuses not only on medical issues, but also emotional and spiritual needs. Care is provided in the patient's home, with inpatient care for symptom control and pain management provided at Loyola University Medical Center. Respite care is provided at skilled nursing facilities or at long-term care facilities in the community.
Loyola’s hospice team also provides support for the patient’s family, providing counseling, comfort and guidance on caring for your loved one with dignity. Loyola’s hospice care team is available 24/7.
Loyola’s Home Health Services and Hospice Care is a Medicare-certified, Illinois Department of Public Health-licensed home care and hospice.
