The American Lung Association is seeking volunteers for the upcoming Fight For Air Climb event in Pittsburgh. The Fight For Air Climb is an annual fundraising event for the American Lung Association. This year we are taking the climb outside and climbing the stadium stairs at PNC Park where participants will climb the stairs and experience what it feels like to fight for air, as so many Americans do each day from lung disease.
This year's climb will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at PNC Park. Volunteers will be needed from 6:45AM to 3:00 PM and will be asked to help with several different tasks, including but not limited to:
- Set-up
- Staffing the registration table
- Handing out participant t-shirts
- Cheering on climbers
- Directing climbers in the lobby, on the elevators and in the stairwells
- Distributing water at water stations along the climb
- Clean-up
By banding together, we will reverse the course of lung disease, improve lung health for millions and, ultimately, save lives. Our nationwide Fight for Air Climb events aim to ensure lung health for all by eliminating respiratory diseases, including lung cancer, COPD, and asthma. Funds raised through LUNG FORCE also supports our COIVD-19 Action Initiative, a comprehensive $25 million initiative to end COVID-19 and defend against future respiratory pandemics.
To officially register as a volunteer for the Fight For Air Climb, please register as a volunteer on our event website. Questions? Contact Steve Gillis, Development Director at 412-430-3061, or Steve.Gillis@Lung.org

Mission Statement
To save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
Description
For over 115 years, the American Lung Association has remained steadfast in its mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. We are dedicated to defeating lung cancer, serving as a champion for clean air for all, improving the quality of life for those with lung disease, and creating a tobacco- and vape-free future. Guided by a strong moral compass, we continue to advance our mission as we always have - by combining education, advocacy, and research efforts.
We are committed to providing you with the most up-to-date information on all things lung health to help you as we move towards a world free of lung disease. We offer a number of programs that are designed to help people quit smoking, learn to live with and control their asthma, and prevent adolescents from smoking, just to name a few.
As long as anyone struggles to breathe freely, the Lung Association will be there to champion for them. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.
