The Community Health and Equity Project (CHEP) is hosting a day full of FREE fun at the KIPP DC Football Field where teams of 5 will compete in multiple competitions including: dodge ball, sack races, football toss, laser tag and more! Starting at 1pm, a health fair will kick off across the street at Union Market where wellness vendors, a DJ and games will be available to all! The event will support the Horton’s Kids program ( https://www.hortonskids.org/ ). Horton’s Kids empowers children growing up in one of DC’s most violent, under-resourced communities so that they graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life. We will need volunteers to help score, referee and assist with games as well as to help direct people and to the right locations and sign participants and vendors in at both the health fair and the field day.

Description
The Community and Health Equity Project (CHEP) is a 501(c)3, non-profit founded in 2017. CHEP’s mission is to close population disparities by meeting individuals & communities where they are and integrating support in practical ways. CHEP’s founding is based on the concept of equity vs equality as the solution to moving communities forward. Equity requires understanding & giving people what they need to enjoy full, healthy lives. Equality is an "aim to promote fairness and justice [that] can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same things." Our audience is typically communities that are underserved in the Wash, DC and MD areas.
