About MAC / MAC Gallery

Location:

Mission Statement

MAC's mission is to support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community. MAC achieves this mission by providing artists with opportunities to exhibit or perform; communicating information about art events throughout the area; and contributing to local arts events that appeal to all members of the community.

Description

Situated on State Street in Media’s growing West End neighborhood, the MAC Gallery is free and open to the public and exhibits works by local artists. The gallery displays month-long solo and duo shows from MAC’s Gallery Artists, a juried collective of visual artists who are invested in the organization and call the MAC gallery their home. The gallery also presents group exhibitions from MAC’s non-juried Registry Artists, who are about 50 mixed-medium artists that live and work locally. The gallery also displays annual juried painting and photography exhibitions by local artists.

Among MAC’s most successful events is the annual Media Film Festival (MFF). The 2018 festival screened over 40 short films over three days, bringing art from around the world to 1,000 people at the Media Theater in downtown Media.

Through its partnership with the Media Youth Center, MAC offers the Media Youth Film Initiative (MyFi), which provides filmmaking instruction and education to about 30 high-school aged students each year. Over the 10-week course, which is offered in the fall and spring, students learn how to make a film, from brainstorming a unique storyline through acting, directing, camera operation, lighting, sound, editing, and post-production. MyFi students screen their films at the annual Media Film Festival. MAC offers tuition waivers for those who are unable to pay the full cost to attend.

Additionally, MAC provides a number of classes and workshops for children and adults throughout the year.
