Greetings
Companion Hospice is looking for a qualified volunteer to intern with our organization. This individual will be available to provide Hospice patients, family members and their friends with companionship and psycho-social care. This person will be on the field and in the office 2-3 times a week from 10:00 am-4:00 pm for a minimum period of 6 months.

-Flexible hours
Patient Care Bereavement Volunteer Interns Responsibility:
-Make visits to patients and families who need additional assistance in their residence
-Provide companionship to patient, family and friends
-Make phone calls for bereaving families
-Assists staff with bereavement care
-Document visits and phone calls
-Work closely with Social Worker and Spiritual Counselor
-Assist Volunteer Coordinator in quarterly and annual events
-Provide remembrances vigils
-Sending gifts, cards and letters to families during special holidays
-Attend in-services with hospice consultants/marketing team
-Additional responsibilities given by Volunteer Coordinator
-Initiate phone call audits and surveys within 7-10 days of services
Qualifications:
-Must be attending a University, Community College or Trade School in related field or a recent graduate
-Must be 21 and over
-Must have reliable transportation
-Must be able to pass a background check
-Must be able to provide a negative TB test result within 2 weeks of hire

We match volunteers to Hospices where they will excel the most. We offer training and orientation, continued education for all volunteers, certificates of completion and excellence. Whether volunteers are students trying to gain experience or if you just want to give back to the community. We hope that we find individuals who can successfully achieve their goals and provide helpful assistance to Hospice organizations within the Los Angeles County.
Description
Hospice volunteers provide companionship to people living with a serious illness and help their families caregivers in a variety of ways. Hospice also rely on volunteers to help with office work, fund raising, community outreach and other operational areas.
