ORGANIZATION: Touching Heart

Touching Heart is a nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) whose mission is to educate and inspire children to have a giving heart. We believe that children can impact the world in significant ways especially if they are taught to treat each other with compassion. Touching Heart's programs are focused on how to enlighten, excite, and educate children and how they can experience the true joy that comes from giving back.

Touching Heart's Kids on a Mission and After School Programs are expanding and we need special individuals to help us reach even more children with our mission! We need teachers who are kind, energetic and passionate about teaching and working with children. Above all, we need teachers that are excited about influencing student's lives and helping them understand the impact they can have.

Teachers will lead Touching Heart Kids on a Mission classes and workshops at local schools or at other organizations. Typically consisting of 8 one hour sessions, classes of 10-15 children, take action to help others while gaining life lessons and leadership skills along the way.

The teacher is responsible for implementing the Touching Heart curriculum that is provided with the use of role-playing, games, and other activities to help the children understand how difficult poverty and other obstacles are to overcome as well as learning how to help those in need through service projects.

The teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging learning environment as they teach about the ways that they themselves can help others in need.

The teacher will:

Prepare, in concert with the Program Manager, materials for the day's class.

Teach the Touching Heart curriculum and inspire students to learn the joy of giving back.

Communicate with the class parents and the school.

Make sure attendance is correct each day and students leave with their appropriate guardian.

Work with Program Manager to ensure goals are being met.

Use technology such as Skype and online videos that reinforce what Touching Heart is all about.

Develop incentives to keep students interested in class.

Help facilitate service projects that will occur during classes.

Fill out expense reports and submit on time.

Qualifications:

Experience in education, teaching and/or childhood development.

Strong project management, computer and communication skills.

Able to demonstrate good classroom management skills as well as be engaging in classroom discussions and hands-on activities.

Must pass a background check.
