Do you need work experience? Would you like to gain new skills? Are you interested in learning about the operations of a nonprofit? .....
SAY San Diego is looking for two volunteers to provide administrative support for projects that help San Diego's youth and families. Volunteer assistance will be especially critical from April 2019 through the end of July for our Play 4 SAY lawn game fundraising event. Volunteer tasks could include: event planning, organizing, inventory, filing, internet research, assistance with mailings and phone calls, and event set-up, support, and teardown.
Volunteers work with the Resource Development Department. This department is responsible for fundraising events, communications/marketing, grants, and helps share the story of SAY San Diego to inspire others to support our mission. Volunteers will receive invaluable global knowledge about the nonprofit world, and specific skills related to fundraising and communications. SAY San Diego is eager to make volunteers "part of the team."
Because the Resource Development department engages with all SAY programs and functions, volunteers will have the opportunity to work in a social services setting and make a difference for youth and families in San Diego.
Start Date: As soon as possible.
End Date: August 31st. Earlier end date will be considered. However, volunteer must be available through July 25th.
Hours: Volunteers can work on any work day between 9 AM and 5 PM. Volunteers should be available for 4-8 hours per week, with an increase of up to 12 - 15 hours in July (if available)
Why is this a great volunteer opportunity? You will:
- Gain work experience
- Develop skills in communications and problem-solving
- Learn about fundraising, event planning and marketing
- Have the opportunity to network and meet new people
- Learn about the operations of a major nonprofit in San Diego County
Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Desire to make a difference in the lives of San Diego youth and families
- Ability to communicate comfortably by phone and email
- Some knowledge of communications and organizing events, preferred
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook, preferred
- B.A. or degree in progress, preferred
