The International Rescue Committee provides opportunities for refugees to thrive in the U.S. Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many have survived for years against incredible odds. They step off the plane with next to nothing but their dignity, hope, and determination. The following donations help provide families with essentials to start their new lives in the San Jose area.
Arrival basics: These items are needed most upon arrival for refugees. By donating these items will increase the efficiency of distributing goods and help refugee clients save money.
Bedding Basics:
- Sheets & Comforter ( full or twin)
-Pillow & Pillow Case
Dining Basics:
- Dishes & Glasses for 4
-Silverware, 4 sets
Food Basics:
-$25-$100 Safeway gift card
Welcome Kits: Completed kits offer refugees a primary set of necessities upon their arrival. Furthermore, donating a completed kit increases the staff’s efficiency in distributing these goods to newly arrived refugees. Please label and package completed welcome kits in reusable bags or boxes. To learn about drop off dates & times, please email Amanda.Gamban@rescue.org
