VICE PRESIDENT OF VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Minds Matter Detroit is currently seeking a dedicated individual to assist in recruiting and managing volunteer mentors, tutors, and teachers.
The duties include:
- Works with the VP of Academics and VP of Student Affairs to assess and understand organizational volunteer needs
- Develop and sustain relationships with other young professional (YP) organizations to promote a diverse volunteer pool
- Works with Minds Matter National and National Executive Vice President (Risk Management) to execute background check policy
- Works with President, VP of Academics, and VP of Student Affairs to create and maintain volunteer handbook
- Facilitates mentor/ mentee pairing
- Works with VP of Events, VP of Communications and YP organizations to plan and execute regular volunteer recruitment events
- Assists in the maintenance of the database of past and present volunteers to include key demographic information

THE COMMITMENT
We ask for at most 10 hours per week dedicated to recruitment activities. This is a 12-month appointment position. While we are understanding of the busy schedules our volunteers have, we are asking for at least 50% attendance during Saturday sessions. which take place from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Description
Minds Matter brings bright and motivated high school students together with dedicated mentors to help them achieve academic excellence, expand educational horizons and ultimately gain acceptance to college. This is accomplished in a 3-year program that includes 32 Saturday sessions (half academic and half mentoring) per year and 2 Summer program.
There are three program components that differentiate Minds Matter from other organizations: academic instruction, individualized mentoring support, and summer enrichment programs.
