Our organization believes that those who have faced challenges have within them the passion and drive to make a difference in other's lives. Our Teen Council is composed of teenagers who enjoy getting together to plan community service outreach programs, and/or to spend time mentoring younger children. This is an active group of teens - composed of teens with and without Type 1 diabetes - who want to make a difference. The group gets together for team-building (including cooking activities, field trips, hearing from professional guest speakers, and other activities). Our teens are leaders and listeners who not only volunteer together, but who also plan and carry out their own outreach initiatives - from fundraisers, to food drives, to mentoring children, to raising awareness of challenges children face including Type 1, pediatric cancer, epilepsy, autism, bullying, and economic disparity. We welcome all teens to our meetings and events. If interested, please contact us at info@kidsheartfelthealth.com - and check our website for up-to-date info on our meetings at www.heartfelthealth-teens.com.

Description
The Kids Heart Felt Health program empowers children to take care of their own health at the earliest age possible. The company provides hands-on cooking classes that teach children nutrition. In addition to protecting children's physical hearts with its child-focused nutrition curriculum, the program also includes a character-building curriculum represented by the acronym "HEART" (which stands for "Humility, Empathy, Appreciation, Respect, and Tenacity"), which is designed to teach children how they can live with heart in their daily lives.
