ORGANIZATION: Fielding Garr Ranch at Antelope Island State Park

  • 9 people are interested

Fielding Garr Ranch is the best spot on Antelope Island. We have sunshine, fresh air, animals, humans, plenty of shade trees, and a quiet tranquility you cannot find in the city. Our volunteers come and stay for years, developing close friendships and meeting tourists from all over the world. We are looking for individuals or couples who can commit to at least 4 hours twice per month (8 hours/month total) on a regular basis. Shifts are generally 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM (summer hours; 5:00 in winter). Our greatest needs at this time are Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Friday; however volunteers are needed every day! Duties are flexible based on ability and interests, but generally include greeting visitors, talking about the historic ranch features, light cleaning, and being positive and welcoming to all. Volunteers are allowed free access to Antelope Island State Park and, upon accumulating a certain number of hours, are given a Utah State Parks annual pass. Volunteers over 55 may be eligible for mileage reimbursement through Davis County's RSVP program. Prospective volunteers will be expected to pass a criminal background check and commit to a regular--but flexible--schedule. Utah State Parks welcomes volunteers with no regard to gender, age, religion, political affiliation, gender or sexual identity, or race.
