We are looking to add more photographers to our team! Ideally, we'd like to find 1-3 photographers who are able to come in on a fairly regular basis because we often get new dogs and cats every week. The best days to come are Sunday, Monday, or Thursday, but any day of the week will work! If you can come once a week, that would be absolutely perfect.
The best times will depend on the lighting / season, but we are almost always available from 10 AM - 4 PM.
What you need: All photographers who'd like to apply need to own a DSLR camera or any professional camera, have some previous experience in photography, and have some type of photo editing software (doesn't have to be super expensive, but something like Photoshop would be very helpful!).
All accessories (bandanas, collars, leashes) will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own props. When you come to the shelter, we will have people help you get the dogs who need photos, but once you develop more experience & feel comfortable, we welcome you to come in and take pictures and take the dogs out on your own. The pictures are always shot either within the shelter's vicinity or on the sidewalks nearby. Pictures for the cats are always taken in the cat room!
Creative Shoots: If you are a freelance photographer or would like to build a portfolio or just create some creative content, we welcome photographers who are looking for a creative outlet! If you have any ideas for photoshoots, we can make it happen! Unfortunately, we don't always have a budget to set aside for purchasing props, but if you'd like to do this, we can maybe work something out. Shoots are not limited to simple backgrounds - you can experiment based on holidays, themes, etc. !
Posting on Social Media: All photography will belong to you, but we may use it for many different uses such as adding the photos to our brochures & website! We will always cite who the photographer is, especially if we post on social media. You can find our Instagram @vidarescue and Facebook is www.facebook.com/vidarescue

Mission Statement
Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already. www.vida4animals.org www.instagram.com/vidarescue www.facebook.com/vidarescue
Description
Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.
We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
