Kindred Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families in your community.

Patient Visit Volunteers provide conversation, leisure activities or a quiet, caring presence. You can reminiscence and use life review techniques such as recording oral histories, storytelling and scrap-booking. You may attend activities with a patient, read aloud or write letters for them, or just hold their hand. Volunteers may sing, draw, or read to patients - each assignment is as different as the patients we serve.

Patient Visit Volunteers may also provide the opportunity for respite to caregivers when a patient resides at home, allowing a caregiver to take time away to care for him/herself.

Volunteers with Kindred Hospice are an important part of a larger team who recognize that psychological, spiritual, and social services, as well as medical/clinical care, can contribute to an improved life quality for patients in the last stages of life. We offer an extensive orientation and ongoing volunteer support.

We serve patients and their families in a wide range of communities, and will likely offer volunteer opportunities and training close to your home. We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of 1 year with 2-8 hours of volunteering per month, with flexible schedules - ideally making visits approximately once a week. No prior experience is required - only a caring heart and a desire to make a difference to those we serve.

All volunteer positions require a Physical and two step TB test, a fingerprinting background check, and a drug screen - paid for by Kindred.
