Open Air Privy Repairs - No Walls Here
ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY
Please visit the new page to apply.
Join the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (CT-AMC) on Wednesday, September 26 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m and spend the day learning and enhancing proper backcountry sanitation principles.
The goal is to hike in materials and tools to a campsite in the depth of the pastoral Housatonic State Forest and repair/reconstruct an open air privy - that’s right, it is like an outhouse but without the walls.
The group will be meeting at the Breadloaf Mountain hiker parking area near the junction of Routes 4 and 7 in Cornwall Bridge, Connecticut. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Also bring, sunscreen, bug spray, work gloves, snacks/lunch to eat while on the Trail, and plenty of water for the day.
Advanced registration necessary, please use this link https://goo.gl/forms/Vfb7wcjHmIwsmoen1 in registering for this event.

Description
Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).
Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
