ERfC, a nonprofit organization located in Enfield, CT, has teamed with kids, communities, schools, and families to grow resilient kids. Through innovative community collaborations, we help kids learn, reach their goals, and contribute to their communities. Our mission guides all of our activities, including our strategy of collaborating with Enfield Public Schools and a variety of businesses, organizations, and individuals to provide high-quality, innovative school year and summer out-of-school time services.
Out-of-School Time
In partnership with Enfield Public Schools, ERfC Before & After School Centers align with the school-day and include academic, enrichment, wellness, and recreational activities for grades K-8 in Enfield schools. All ERfC Centers are licensed with the Connecticut Department of Early Childhood Education.
Before School Centers operate every day from 7:00 am to the start of the school day in all elementary schools. After School Centers open from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm in the K-2 schools. Students in grades 3-5 are bussed to the sister school center at the end of each school day. Centers also operate when school is released early for conferences or for teacher in-service training.
Volunteers assist Team Leaders within small groups of children in a variety of activities including homework, study time, and learning centers. Volunteers help students learn, develop new skills, and serve as positive role models. Additional enrichment opportunities include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), literacy, arts & crafts, indoor & outdoor sports, cooperative games, and health, nutrition, and fitness activities. Specialty clubs are also available and may include cooking, sewing, dance, yoga, and writing.
Develop a Unique Club Activity
Do you like to travel, knit, cook, dance? Do you know sign language or another language specialty? Many volunteers have a specific experience, interest, or skill that they may want to share with students. For example, we have engineers who work on science projects; individuals with a background in the theatre who begin drama activities; individuals whose hobby is knitting or sewing; and a retired woodworker who came in for several days to teach children how to build birdhouses. There are so many opportunities to bring new experiences to children!
We can help you design a perfect club based on your own experiences. The club or activity could last for two, three, or five days. Some have lasted even longer. Don’t’ worry, you won’t be leading the activity or club alone. A Team Leader will be available to assist you.
Club Time Only Volunteer
Club Time volunteers assist in activities from 5:00 PM - 5:50 PM. Club Time volunteers assist or sometimes lead an enrichment activity such as sports, board games, scrapbooking, cheerleading, art, and more. We also help volunteers to design their own club idea.
Flexible Schedules Available
We will work with you to design a schedule that is just right for you!
