Become a Nature Center Docent!

The Nature Center is a hub for visitors to learn more about efforts by the Land Conservancy, local ecology, geology and cultural history! Once joining our 1 day training you can sign up for any shifts that meet your schedule!

Job Description:

- Greet visitors, answer basic questions about PVPLC, preserve and local nature, or direct visitor to resources such as landmarks on the peninsula

- Assist with monthly projects around center like exhibit rotation, keeping information current in kiosk, light cleaning or gardening

- Assist with preparations for and implementing hikes and special events such as scout badges, birthday parties and student field trips

- Create a safe place and fun atmosphere for children and adults

No skills or experience required. An interest in learning more about the Peninsula and George F Canyon’s local natural and cultural history and geology. Must be 18 years or older and willing to complete Livescan.

After completing Nature Center training, Docent receives personalized PVPLC name badge and polo shirt.

Description

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) manages over 1600 acres of open space on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and two nature centers with native plant demonstration gardens. The PVPLC engages volunteers in the development and maintenance of native plant gardens in order to demonstrate how gardening with native plants is beneficial for the environment.
