Help one of Chicagos oldest and largest food pantries distribute food to clients, stock shelves, unload deliveries, sort donations, or drive our cargo vans as we work to end hunger in Chicago. This opportunity provides flexibility in schedule and hours. Volunteer once or for any shift(s) you like. Most of our volunteer options are limited to those who are 16 or older, but limited youth volunteer opportunities are also available.
An hour long orientation is required before volunteering.

One of Chicago’s largest and longest-operating food pantries, Lakeview Pantry’s mission is to eliminate hunger and poverty in our community by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people; increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs; and raising awareness of hunger and poverty and working towards solutions to eliminate them.
Our vision is to be a stable presence in the communities we serve, and to be a model of compassionate, effective, and collaborative service delivery by building upon our Food Distribution excellence, achieving Client Services excellence, and building capacity and strengthening our ability to carry out our mission.
Lakeview Pantry strives to eliminate hunger in our community by: Providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people, increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs, and raising awareness of poverty and its solution.
Since 1970, the Lakeview Pantry has been providing food for our neighbors in need. While our doors are open to all, the vast majority of those we serve within our neighborhood may be disabled, working for minimum wage, recently unemployed, or the elderly. Whatever the reason, we are here to help. Each year, over 700,000 pounds of food are provided to more than 18,000 people.
