Foster Coordinator

This position serves the role of placing animals in foster homes and making sure they complete all steps to be adoptable. They report to the Area Coordinator. Does not have to be on Staten Island

Core responsibilities:

• Actively recruit and maintain a large foster network.
• Manage team of Foster Screeners and Foster Team members.
• Place incoming animals in appropriate foster homes while observing best practices.
• Respond to all communications with 48 hours.
• Manage the Foster Application Spreadsheet and respond to all applicants
• Manage active fosters to ensure they are being utilized according to best practices.
• Conduct Foster Orientations for new or first-time fosters.
• Develop a strong Foster Mentor system
• Help connect new or inexperienced fosters to Foster Mentors.
• Evaluate the foster process and make suggestions for improvement where necessary.
• Handle foster returns; make sure returns are placed in appropriate home in timely manner.
• Respond to all behavioral and non-medical issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Update Foster Handbook as needed.
• Organize training sessions with LLAR trainer, fosters, and other coordinators as needed.
• Ensure that fosters are working with the medical team to get animal in appropriate condition for release.
• Arrange to have photographs taken in a timely manner. High quality photos help us get animals adopted quickly!
• Ensures that bios are submitted and arranged in a coherent, engaging way in a timely manner. Detailed and interesting bios attract attention and help animals find their forever home!
• Coordinate which animals are going to which events. Ensure that animals are attending an appropriate number of events.

Qualifications:

• Able to work with rescue team.
• Good with task and project management.
• Able to engage in discussions with others about commitments.
