VITAS Healthcare is looking for kind and caring people to help with terminally ill patients and their families- just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members or friends who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house because they are devoted to caring for their loved ones. Relief care (sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers, to have the opportunity to run an errand, go to an appointment or an even gives them renewed energy to better equip them for the responsibilities of caregiving.
The Relief Care Volunteer shifts are 1 to 2 hours and we currently have an opportunity in the North County/Florissant area. Relief care volunteers provide non- medical support & companionship services for patients and no direct care is involved. This is an evening position from 6:30pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
