October 19, 2019- Special Olympics Southern California - Santa Barbara will be holding their 5 th Annual "Fired Up for Special Olympics" Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at the Santa Barbara Carriage Museum. This event will be hosted by the Santa Barbara County Firefighters and City of Santa Barbara Firefighters who have graciously volunteered to prepare and serve a Santa Maria style BBQ to benefit our Santa Barbara Area Special Olympics year round athletic programs.
250 to 300 attendees will participate in our extraordinary evening of fun and fundraising . Local businesses who have shown their support this year are: Santa Ynez Band of Chumash, Union, Tri-Counties Regional Center, Marborg, Southern California - Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 721, Coca Cola, and Jordanos, Hutton Parker Foundation.
We will need volunteer support in the following areas: Event Set Up, Auction Set Up, Guest Registration - Check in, Auctio Check OUt & Runners, Kitchen Prep, Serving & Clean Up and Event Breakdown.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
The Santa Barbara Special Olympics is a non-profit organization that allows people with developmental disabilites within the Santa Barbara community to participate in year-round athletic competition. We offer several sports that our athletes can participate in free of charge.
