In the midst of the already eventful Goleta Lemon Festival, Special Olympics of Santa Barbara will host it's 6th Regional Soccer Tournament at Girsh Park on Saturday, September 29th. Two local Santa Barbara teams will compete against teams from Venture, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clarita, Santa Maria and Kern County/Bakersfield in an exciting day of competition.
This years competition features eleven teams on 2 soccer fields, a skills workshop in dribbling, kicking and passing and a flag football exhibition will be taking place simultaneously along side the Goleta Lemon Festival at Girsh Park.
We will need volunteers to help with Set Up, Volunteer & School Registration, Score Reporting &Awards Distribution, Score Keeping, Games Management, Lunch Distribution, Medical Support, Skills Workshop Support and Breakdown of event after it is over.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
The Santa Barbara Special Olympics is a non-profit organization that allows people with developmental disabilites within the Santa Barbara community to participate in year-round athletic competition. We offer several sports that our athletes can participate in free of charge.
