ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter

Do you love to teach? Do you have that knack for organizing programs? Are you fueled by the desire to raise awareness and understanding of Alzheimer's and related dementia diseases to make a difference in our communities? Then you are an ACE! Alzheimer's Association Community Educators (ACE) are representatives of the Alzheimer's Association who cultivate opportunities and then deliver Association educational programs. ACEs work in their professional, civic, and personal spaces to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and provide education and information to constituents. ACEs are empowered to identify gaps, areas of need, and areas of interest and fill those through education.

Skills & Abilities:
Understanding and or experience with Alzheimer's or Dementia (personal or professional)
Public Speaking
Able to present educational material for a breadth of audiences
Able to represent the Association at events without conflicts of interest
Computer skills from running videos and power point type presentations

The Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter serves DC, Maryland (Calvert, St. Mary's, Charles, Prince George's and Montgomery Counties), and Northern Virginia (10 counties). We are especially in need of ACE's who live OUTSIDE the beltway, who are willing to travel some distance, available nights and weekends and during business hours.

The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. As part of a nationwide network of chapters, the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter provides care and support to people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their families and caregivers in the District of Columbia, five counties in suburban and Southern Maryland and eleven counties in Northern Virginia. For more than 30 years, we have provided reliable information and care consultation; created supportive services for families; increased funding for dementia research; and influenced changes in public policy. The Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donor-supported organization.

Description

The National Capital Area Chapter is affiliated with the national Alzheimer's Association, headquarted in Chicago. We serve persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, their families, caregivers,professionals and communities in Northern Virginia, suburban Maryland and Washington, DC through support, counseling information, referrals, education, advocacy and research.
