Celebrate the 25th Annual National Public Lands Day with TMPF on Saturday, September 22nd!

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation will be hosting an invasive species removal event in Idlewild Park along the Truckee River. This is part of our campaign to engage people in signature events that inspire, equip, and mobilize our volunteers in projects that have a positive effect on the overall health of our parks.

TMPF will provide volunteers with tools, such as loppers and handsaws for the removal of 'Ailanthus altissima', also known as "tree of heaven". This plant is a prolific seed producer and can thrive in even the most unfavorable conditions with little management. Its rapid growth also means that it can crowd out nearby native plant species, and its aggressive root system can cause damage to pavement, sewers, and building foundations.

Sign-up for the event by emailing Annie at Annie@tmparksfoundation.org

This event is sponsored by ExtremeTerrain.com: Clean Trails Grant Program
