Mission Statement
AWE’s mission is to provide youth in Milwaukee with arts enrichment programs that advance learning, enhance human potential, and cultivate community. Our programs weave arts and culture into the community development process to spark imagination, create social connections, and develop creative community design solutions that reflect the values and concerns of the neighborhoods where we work.
Description
Artists Working in Education (AWE), sponsors professional artists to nurture the imaginations of Milwaukee youth by bringing creative visual arts experiences directly to schools, community centers and informal settings such as parks, playgrounds, libraries and community events.
AWE artists guide children through the process of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Meaningful arts programming helps youth develop new ways of seeing the world, enhanced inquisitiveness, creativity, flexibility, imagination and confidence.
