We are looking for Adult Literacy and ESL tutors to work with learners in the Freeman, SD area. There are opportunities for both individual and small group tutoring.
Our tutors work with adults (18+) to help them improve their reading and writing skills.
Individual Tutoring
- Tutor and learner for 1 - 1 1/2 hours each week
- Tutoring pairs usually meet at the library
- Typically learners are working on a specific goal such as getting a driver's license, taking their citizenship test, etc.
- All materials are provided
Small Group Tutoring
- 8-9 week sessions that meet at apartment community rooms, libraries, and churches
- Led by 2 co-tutors - you and a buddy
- Typically 4 learners to 1 tutor
- Lesson plans are created for you and all materials are provided

Description
REACH Literacy is a nonprofit organization that provides literacy instruction and experiences for adult and youth readers through flexible tutoring programs and the innovative reuse of donated books in our beautiful secondhand bookstore. Our experienced and passionate teachers and volunteers deliver innovative instruction and serve as positive role models and mentors for adults and youth.
Our Everyday English programs are designed for adults who are learning English as a Second Language. They may already speak or understand basic English but desire to increase their confidence speaking and communicating in English for personal or employment-related reasons. Our flexible curriculum removes barriers and increases access to practice opportunities.
