FREE READING SERVICES: The Fairmont City Library offered a classroom to deliver very successful computerized Mindplay Virtual Reading Coach instruction during which a tutor sits alongside to encourage and keep the K - 4th grader on task. Both wear headsets which allows the tutor to coach/reinforce. Without that support the learner takes much longer to experience the success level that then drives him/her to more success and makes reading a positive experience. With YOUR HELP, most learners who attend 1-2 hours over10-12 weeks (20 hours) near or reach their grade level in reading. That is phenomenal! STRUGGLING READERS NEED THE INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT TO THE POINT WHERE THEY EXPERIENCE SUCCESS - YOU REALLY MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

Please come on Thursday January 9th for the start of the new session and meet your learner. We also need more used notebook computers and I-Pads that can launch the Mindplay Virtual Reading Coach software system. You can test your computer for free in a few seconds at Mindplay.com Technical Support has an online app for that.
Our Reading Success Center 501c3's software licenses will be utilized. Hoyleton Children's Center will provide a Classroom Manager and we need volunteer tutors to make the difference,

About Reading Success Center

Location:

308 West Juda Avenue, Collinsville, IL 62234, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Reading Success Center is to make reading improvement services available to nonprofit groups that already have clients/members to be served.

Description

We assist other nonprofits in building self-sustaining reading improvement programs. While that takes place, we are also providing tutorial services. Once the new program has adequate volunteers and is self-sustaining, we will help another nonprofit in the same way.

The Boys & Girls Club West in St. Peters MO has provided an excellent room for these services. After-school tutoring began November 07, 6 weeks of Summer Reading Camps were held in 08 and after-school tutoring continues. We will need volunteer tutors for 7 weeks this summer as we serve children K-6 and older counselors A FREE 12 NOON LUNCH FOLLOWED BY READING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES UNTIL 2 PM. We are very short on volunteers to enable this project. Please give your time to prevent summer slide and build new READING SKILLS.
