Douglas Memorial Church will be a new site beginning January 10, 2019. The Reading Success Center nonprofit will use a classroom at this site to deliver very successful computerized instruction, during which a tutor who encourages and keeps the K - 4th grader on task. You and the learner wear headsets, so both hear the lessons which allows you to coach/reinforce. Without that support the learner takes much longer to experience the success level that then drives him/her to more success and makes reading a positive experience. With your help, most learners who attend 1 hour bi-weekly for 10 weeks (20 hours) near or reach their grade level in reading. That is phenomenal!
We will provide a free 1-hour training session on January 8 from 4-5 OR 5-6 pm.. The Reading Success Center needs additional computers that can launch the Mindplay Virtual Reading Coach software system. You can test your computer for free in a few seconds at Mindplay.com under Technical Support. .

Mission Statement

The mission of the Reading Success Center is to make reading improvement services available to nonprofit groups that already have clients/members to be served.

Description

We assist other nonprofits in building self-sustaining reading improvement programs. While that takes place, we are also providing tutorial services. Once the new program has adequate volunteers and is self-sustaining, we will help another nonprofit in the same way.

The Boys & Girls Club West in St. Peters MO has provided an excellent room for these services. After-school tutoring began November 07, 6 weeks of Summer Reading Camps were held in 08 and after-school tutoring continues. We will need volunteer tutors for 7 weeks this summer as we serve children K-6 and older counselors A FREE 12 NOON LUNCH FOLLOWED BY READING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES UNTIL 2 PM. We are very short on volunteers to enable this project. Please give your time to prevent summer slide and build new READING SKILLS.
