CAMPBELL HOUSE INTERPRETIVE VOLUNTEER

Do you enjoy local history? Do you enjoy architecture or interior design? Do you like to raise awareness of local history to visitors and other members of the community? Then being a Volunteer Interpreter at the Campbell House may be a great opportunity for you.

Campbell House Interpretive Volunteers will be educated on the Campbell House, the Campbell family and servants, and other relevant local, regional and national history. The Volunteer Interpreters will also be trained how to give tours of Campbell House, or how to facilitate the open house format in both the Campbell House and Carriage House. Below are some qualities that all Campbell House Interpretive Volunteers must have:

-Interest in learning about something new

-A willingness to speak with visitors

-A positive attitude

Campbell House Interpretive Tour Guide

This position leads visitors in groups of less than 18 through the Campbell House on a 40-50 minute tour of the house. Topics that are covered on the tour range from exterior architecture to servants daily life. This position requires that you be comfortable speaking in front of a small to medium sized group and a willingness to answer visitors questions.

Carriage House Orientation Interpreter

This position is stationed in the Carriage House adjacent to the Campbell House. When visitors arrive at the house you are often the first person to speak with them. Your goal is to make the visitors feel welcome in the Carriage House and encourage them to explore the Carriage House while they wait for their tour to begin.

Campbell House Open House Interpreter

This position gives you an opportunity to work inside the house without the pressure of leading a group of visitors through the house. You will be stationed in one of the interesting locations inside the house with an opportunity to engage visitors as they take their own pace exploring the house. This position is needed for Saturdays only.
