The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
DC Bully Busters (DCBB) wants you! Join our team of Campaign Ambassadors nationwide to draw attention to the issue of bullying in politics and make sure that our leaders are good role models. DCBB, an organization run by students, is seeking volunteers (of any age) to attend campaign events and ask candidates to sign the DCBB campaign pledge. By signing the pledge, the candidate is making a commitment that he/she will not bully or be a bystander to bullying tactics, both during the campaign and if elected to Congress. With two months until the election, we need to make it clear that bullying is not an American value!
As a volunteer, you will:
Interact with the 27th district Congressional candidates at campaign events, town halls, debates, etc.
Engage your peers on social media
Work to gather local media attention
Bring awareness to bullying across our culture
Gain leadership/communication skills and a stronger sense of civic engagement
One-on-one training to learn more about the specific role and to prepare for the campaign events
A toolkit with resources to support your efforts during the campaign - including social media support
Ongoing communication with DCBB Headquarters
Opportunities to stay involved after the election
Please respond to this posting for more information and to set up a training with our Campaign Coordinator.
