Event Description: Join staff in helping to keep Durant Nature Preserve clean and beautiful at our "Big Sweep" event. The "Big Sweep" is a county and state wide initiative to help keep our watersheds clean by removing litter. Please help us to support this great effort!

Volunteer Impact: Keeping our waters clean provides a safe environment for citizens and provides our wildlife with a healthy home.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will pick up litter within the park.

Volunteer Shifts: There are multiple sifts to choose from. See below:

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will pick up litter within the park.

Special Information: Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothing you can get dirty. We will supply the tools and work-gloves.

Work Environment: We will be working on uneven terrain. There is a restroom on site. We will be outside in the winter, so please dress accordingly.

Volunteer Requirements: Pre-registration is required. Adults must register and accompany children. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to volunteer. Adults must register and accompany children under the age of 16. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign their form as well.

Group Registration Information: Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
