We’re an independent non-profit agency that builds, develops, acquires, and manages low- and moderate-income housing in Palo Alto and the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide high-quality, safe housing; subsidize rents to the greatest degree possible, and support our residents in reaching their goals through our Resident Services program. We are searching for volunteers to help us strengthen our services and further our mission!

Opportunity A: Technology Coach

Palo Alto Housing is seeking volunteers to help our adult residents navigate the basics of computers, tablets, internet use, and smartphones. As a Technology Coach, you would be matched one-on-one with an adult who has questions about navigating their devices. Common questions include: attaching and sending photos to email, using Google docs, downloading apps, the basics of MS Word, understanding all the functions of a smartphone, etc. Our ideal volunteer:

• Is up-to-speed on today’s technology devices
• Is open-mind, warm, and patient with those learning about technology
• Has excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Can provide 1.5-2 hours of one-on-one technological support and instruction to residents once a week for a minimum commitment of 6 weeks

If you are comfortable with devices & apps, have a clear communication style, and desire to help people be empowered to reach their goals, this may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
