ORGANIZATION: Women's Museum of California

  • 6 people are interested

The Women's Museum of California has several Community Partners who use our space for their monthly meetings and occasional other events. We are looking for volunteers who can be the main contact for these groups, set up for and attend their meetings, and provide any support they need during their meetings/events.

Groups include the San Diego Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW), the Older Women's League (OWL), Lean In San Diego, and others! Monthly meetings for each group are on regular evenings (e.g. 3rd Tuesday of each month).

This is a great way to support the Museum and learn more about these great organizations supporting women throughout San Diego.

About Women's Museum of California

Location:

1649 El Prado, Suite 103, San Diego, CA 92101, US

Mission Statement

To educate and inspire present and future generations about the experiences and contributions of women by collecting, preserving and interpreting the evidence of that experience.

Description

The Women's Museum of California was founded in 1983 by Mary B. Maschal who recognized the gap in knowledge and lack of women role models in our accepted history and began collecting materials to teach the public. Now, a committed Board of Directors, Staff, and many volunteers and interns work on a variety of programs, events, and exhibits both at the museum and within the community of San Diego County. The WMC is one of 3 standalone Museums in the United States that focuses on the history, experiences, and contributions of women.
