Heartland Hospice a not-for-profit, are seeking persons that have served in the US Military and ROTC students 18 and older to perform a brief but very meaningful bedside pinning for Veterans on our Hospice Service.
The pinning ceremony is a way to honor and thank the veteran for their service and sacrifices to our country.
This will be done bedside in the Veterans home, nursing home, assisted living facility or wherever the patient calls home.
We start with the Pledge of allegiance, thank you poem, pinning and certificate is given to the patient.
Volunteer must agree to background check, TB screening, training and references.

Mission Statement
The mission of Heartland Hospice is to provide quality hospice care to patients with a limited life expectancy, as well as, support to thier caregivers. The quality of life for those we serve is enhanced through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of the patients and caregivers. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team utlilizing an approach to the care delivered to patients either in their own home or extended care facility; working cooperatively with area health care providers and other community resources. Heartland Hospice strives to provide care to all who are eligible and need hospice care irrespective of ability to pay. We help to bring dignity and honor to a dying patient and we aim to comfort the family throughout the dying process.
Description
We are made up of a dedicated team that focuses on enhancing the quality of life by providing comfort care as well as spiritual, social and emotional support to patients in the final phase of a terminal illness. Our program stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient and we strive to ensure that our patients spend their final days in dignity and comfort.
We depend on our volunteers to help us give the full circle of care that our patients and their families need during this challenging time.
Mandated background check, TB test, extensive volunteer orientation and training given. New volunteer orientation is offered continuously throughout the year. Please call Tia Newgren @ 815-469-7100.
