Event Staff Request - Tuesday, October 16, 2018

AJ Williams Events is looking for volunteer event staff for the King Legacy Night, Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. We are looking for people with great people skills, positive attitudes and a strong work ethic. Staff will be engaging attendees at registration, helping with the auction and other various tasks throughout the event. Event Details:

Date: Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Where: Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at 465 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Time needed: 4:30-11:00pm. Dinner Included

4:30pm - Check-in and dinner

5:00pm - Training starts

Description: MLK Boston and the City of Boston will be hosting King Legacy Night, a black-tie benefit to support the design and the construction of the memorial honoring the Boston legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

Details: King Legacy Night

  • VIP Reception - A culinary reception, featuring a special performance by Esperanza Spalding. 7:00 p.m.
  • Program & Concert - A program featuring iconic civil rights leaders, including C.T. Vivian, Harry Belafonte, Robert Lewis, Jr. and Bakari Sellers. Performance by pop icon Taylor Dayne. Live auction and Concert by Six-time GRAMMY winner, Earth, Wind & Fire. 8:00 p.m.

Approximate number of Guests: 500+ guests

Wardrobe: Ladies -Black tailored pants, black blazer jacket, black tank, black dress shoes. Men - Black tailored pants, black dress shirt, black shoes (Please note this is a black tie event).

About King Legacy Night and MLK Boston:

King Legacy Night will benefit The MLK Boston project, a multimillion-dollar citywide commemoration of the Kings’ life in Boston that will include an outdoor memorial on Boston Common, a televised documentary, a high tech immersive educational center in Roxbury’s Dudley Square neighborhood, and a community-wide endowment in partnership with Roxbury's Twelfth Baptist Church to continue King-related programming in the city.

MLK Boston is a privately funded non-profit working closely with the City of Boston to create a new memorial and programs about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King and their time and work together in Boston.

MLK Boston is now working on the following initiatives:

  • A world-class memorial on the Boston Common, the location of marches and speeches for hundreds of years in our city.
  • An interactive MLK Learning Center in Roxbury where we will teach people to be effective activists to bring change in our city.
  • A $1M endowment for the Twelfth Baptist Church to do MLK-related programming, honoring his time preaching at Twelfth Baptist while he lived in Boston.
  • A new documentary about MLK and CSK, focused on their lives and work together in Boston.
