Position: Website Development Volunteer

Reports To: PSS’ Communications Department

Location: PSS Administrative Office, 65 Broadway, NY

General Purpose: The Website Development Volunteer is someone who can take the final product (sandbox site) that we create and move it to the main site.

Key Responsibilities: We use BlueHost and WordPress for our current websites. We have our main website and multiple sub-domain sites through BlueHost. We have created a sub-domain website as our sandbox to design our new website which will replace the main site. Once the sandbox site has been moved over to the main URL we will need to remove the unnecessary information from BlueHost’s CPanel and delete all the subdomain sites.

Expectations: What we need is someone who can take the final product (sandbox site) that we create and move it to the main site. Once that is done they will remove all the sub-domain sites and unnecessary data on the BlueHost CPanel.

Time Commitment: Volunteers must be able to work at least 10 hours a week. The roll out date for the new website is going to be Friday, October 12th. Which means we would need this project to be finished by the afternoon on Thursday, October 11 th.

Mission Statement

PSS's mission is to strengthen the capacity of older New Yorkers, their families, and communities to thrive! PSS staff, board, volunteers, and interns commit to these core values: Embrace the PSS mission. Recognize older adults as a vital part of New York City. Guide and support family caregivers in their crucial and often challenging role. Enhance the bonds and the potential of kinship families. Affirm inclusivity. Continue to honor our roots in social service, volunteerism, and community. Commit to being nimble, collaborative, and creative so we can meet the changing needs of those we serve. Strive for continual improvement by measuring agency performance and learning from that data. Gratefully accept the responsibility of being good stewards of the funds and support we are privileged to receive. Value the contributions of staff and commit to their professional development and well-being.

Description

PSS was founded in 1962 as Presbyterian Senior Services by volunteers to serve older members of their church community. Today, PSS is an innovative, multi-service nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of older New Yorkers, their families, and communities to thrive. PSS has over 70 dedicated staff and over 250 committed volunteers and interns. With a $6+ million annual budget, we are able to run ten busy community centers for older adults, family caregiver and kinship family support programs through PSS Circle of Care, two residences - including the first one purposefully built for grandparents raising grandchildren - and Coming of Age NYC’s popular educational programs that inspire adults 50+ to live with passion and purpose. We encourage you to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
