Internship on Urban Farm
21 people are interested
Sweetwater Farm is a non-profit, community-supported urban organic farm and educational center
located in the Town n Country area of Tampa (just northwest of TIA). Through our hands-on
programs, visitors of all ages practice appropriate land stewardship and master sustainable agriculture
Our Interns work seasonally from September/October through the end of April/ May growing certified
organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers for our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and
our Sunday Market and/or other retail outlets. Bending, lifting, and carrying bins of produce are part
of the daily routine. Interns will often work with volunteers and occasionally school-aged children.
Sweetwater recruits 6-10 part-time Farm Interns each season to dig right in and learn the basics of
sustainable farming through a very hands-on program. One 8-hour day (or two 4-hour days) per week
are the minimum requirement for consideration in the program. Our working hours are generally Wed-
Sunday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with Thursday and Sundays being our busiest days starting at 7:30am.
Full season and Semester internships are available. All internships are unpaid and interns that fulfill
their weekly requirement may pick up a vegetable share each week during the season. We will do
our best to work with your school and work schedule.
