Tutor a child today!

San Francisco City Impact is searching for a qualified volunteer for our K-8 school, San Francisco City Academy. We are currently seeking an individual to spend time with students as an academic tutor. The tutor would ideally have teaching experience or experience working with students in an academic environment. This role would include working alongside the classroom teachers and providing pull-out individual or small group academic support to students.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, tutoring can be done in person or virtually via Zoom. If done in person, masks are required at all times.

Mission Statement

To holistically heal and transform this community through two types of work: urgent relief works and preventive works. The urgent relief works such as feeding, clothing, healing, housing and rescuing are works that must be available for those in crisis. The preventive works of educating, counseling, training and spiritual discipleship will ensure that the cycles of poverty and despair will not be repeated.

Description

City Impact has been serving the city of San Francisco since 1981. We have a strong belief and desire to see the city of San Francisco be transformed by impacting its worst district. The Tenderloin District is one square mile filled with 37,000 residents who live in 586 apartment buildings. Several thousand homeless pass through the Tenderloin daily.

We are a Christian organization that works with volunteers of many religious backgrounds and we believe that one personal can make all the difference in the life of a person in need. Here, we have mutliple departments to reach people of all ages and situations.
