ORGANIZATION: VEAP- Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People

Bring fresh, healthy foods to individuals, families, and seniors in need! Join the mobile pantry team!

Goal of position
: In a team of 2 to 4 volunteers, help bring fresh produce by way of VEAP’s new Mobile Food Pantry to communities in need. VEAP’s Mobile Food Pantry is just getting off the ground and we are looking for volunteer input every step of the way to ensure a smooth and engaging program!

Major responsibilities:

  • Drive mobile food pantry bus to distribution sites
  • Set-up Mobile Food Pantry for distribution (including sorting produce & stocking shelves)
  • Collect data from participants for statistical purposes
  • Possible leadership or aide in community programming (to be determined)
  • Respect the privacy rights of those VEAP serves

Qualifications

  1. Must be between 25 and 70 years of age.
  2. Ability to lift 20-25 lbs.
  3. Must pass DOT physical, VEAP will coordinate and pay for certification

VEAP is a basic needs and social services organization whose programs promote access to healthy foods, stable housing and transportation. VEAP’s programs are designed to address a particular need and when used together provide hope and can help avoid a financial crisis such as loss of housing, transportation or employment. Whether the hardship is from a disability, job transition, or the financial and physical stresses of aging, VEAP has been helping our neighbors in need for over 40 years in Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina.
