Global Campaign for Education-US Membership & Events Internship Position
The Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US) is a coalition of national and community-based NGOs, teacher unions, faith-based groups, and international organizations dedicated to ensuring universal quality education for all children and youth. The mission of GCE-US is to promote education as a basic human right and mobilize to create political will in the United States and internationally to ensure universal quality education, which is at the core of all human development. Position Summary
We are seeking an intern to work in our Washington D.C. office to assist with membership and event planning efforts for our coalition. The Membership and Events Intern will conduct research on current and prospective member organizations, assist with the solicitation and collection of coalition membership dues, and update and maintain membership records. The intern will also provide logistical support for coalition events, including coalition monthly meetings, fundraisers, and educational advocacy events. Our ideal candidate would be free to work 16-24 hours per week in 2018-19. This unpaid internship is eligible for academic credit, to be provided by the student’s school.
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain membership records
- Engage current and prospective member organizations
- Attend meetings, events, and briefings on issues related to GCE-US and coalition partners
- Assist with logistics for events, conferences, meetings, calls and other administrative support as needed
- Prepare for monthly coalition meetings on various global education advocacy topics
Your Profile
- People of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ populations, and candidates representing marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program
- Passion for ensuring access to quality education for all children and youth
- An interest in association management, advocacy campaigns, fundraising and/or nonprofit organizations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong writing, proofreading, editing, and communication skills and ability to clearly articulate ideas
- Excellent organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail and professional interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with all Microsoft Office applications
Location: The position is based in GCE-US’s office in Washington, DC.

Generate media that raises awareness about global education.
Build, sustain, and increase public support for universal quality education.
