Progressive Transition(s) Inc. is an active 501(C)(3) non-profit serving the Bay Area community. Our mission is to improve the lives of victims and survivors of Domestic Violence, Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking. We recognize and identify violence against women as a public health issue. Our goal is to reduce and prevent reoccurring incidences of violence against woman in any form. We work to eradicate violence against women in our society.
On Saturday September 29, 2018 Progressive Transition(s) Inc. is hosting our Shining the Light anniversary gala at the California Ballroom in Oakland, CA. This event will celebrate the organization’s ten years of service, accomplishments and acknowledge how far we have come in our expanded service to the community. This will also be our organization’s largest fundraiser for the year. We operate off the generous donations of individuals which allow us to continue the restorative work we do. There will be food, live music and entertainment.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support us the day of the event. Volunteers will work one of the following positions at the designated times:
- Set-up Crew : Arrive to the venue several hours before the event begins and support the staff with table and chair set up, decorating, assist with equipment set-up
- Take-down Crew : Stay after the event has ended to assist with clean-up; wipe down of tables & chairs, remove decorations, equipment break-down
- Greeters : Politely greet and direct guests while performing assigned tasks (i.e. ticket taking, directing guests to their seats, providing directions)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 or over
- Prior event volunteer experience a plus
- Demonstrate strong personal engagement skills
- Must have a friendly disposition and a smile
- Must be able to stay calm in busy, fast-paced situations

Description
Our services include a diversion program for women 18 and over who are involved in street prostitution, human trafficking and who have been sexually exploited. We provide individual, group and family counseling services for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
We provide information and referral services for health care, mental health and employment. We faciliate life skills classes and interactive workshops.
