Mounce Library Youth Service needs a number of volunteers to help us run library Family Fun events!
These events are free to families and encourage families to use the library and all the resources the library has to offer!
For each event we need help to set up the room, then during the program run the games and serve snacks and/or read the story. After the program we need help to clean up.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Brazos Valley Literacy Coalition is four-fold: To help better the lives of adults in our community who suffer from functional illiteracy. To help adults in our community learn English so that they can understand medical professionals, talk with their child’s teacher, get a job or advance in the one they have, and keep safe in the workplace. To help young children (0-5) gain a foundation of literacy skills needed to enter school ready to succeed. To help school aged children advance in reading skills to read on or above grade level.
Description
The Brazos Valley Literacy Coalition started in 2016 as a collaboration between Bryan/College Station Library System, the Friends of the BCS Library System, and Workforce Solutions of the Brazos Valley. The following year many other community organizations and Brazos Valley libraries met to address urgent literacy needs. Within the coalition there are three committees. Each committee addresses specific age groups with literacy solutions:
- Adult Literacy (adults 18 and above, functionally illiterate)
- Early Literacy (ages 0-5)
- School-Aged Literacy (grades K-12)
