Looking for a way to give back to youth in your community? The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens is currently seeking volunteers for our 2018-2019 after school program!

The Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens(VBGCQ) is a non-profit organization that specializes in providing children ages 6-18 with the highest quality programming. Our programs include homework help, swimming and sports, coding, engineering, gourmet cooking, drama, dance, media production and so much more.

The Club is looking for dedicated homework helpers and tutors to volunteer for Power Hour, our homework help and tutoring program offered daily to all Club participants. Students complete homework in groups based on grade level and are assisted by a teacher and volunteers. Join us to help youth succeed in school and build great futures!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support elementary and middle school students in completing daily homework assignments
  • Assist participants in various subject areas including Reading and Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies
  • Tutor participants who need extra help in a specific subject area
  • Help students study for upcoming exams or complete projects
  • Be an encouraging and positive influence for participants so they can start the school day with confidence

No previous teaching or tutoring experience required, simply have a willingness to help!

When:

2:30-3:30 pm Monday-Friday

Our comprehensive range of programs include homework help, swimming and sports, coding, engineering, gourmet cooking, drama, dance, media production and so much more. Whether a child dreams of becoming an engineer, a filmmaker or an all-star athlete, our after school, summer camp, aquatics and weekend programs support them in realizing their aspirations.
