In fact, I’m going to let you in on a little secret...
NAMI is known as the "biggest secret" in the world of mental health.
With more than fifty-thousand supporters nationwide, NAMI isn’t just another nonprofit.
NAMI is a MOVEMENT.
And as our movement grows, we’re on the lookout for passionate individuals who want to join us as we end the stigma of mental illness and save thousands of lives.
Does this sound like you? If so, read on, because we’re looking for an experienced program coordinator to help support our established and successful Connection Recovery program.
About NAMI’s Connection Recovery Support Program
NAMI’s Connection Recovery Support Group is a free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. NAMI’s Support Groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure those in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what they need. The groups meet on a bi-weekly, weekly or monthly basis.
Bringing this life-saving program to life is impossible without the support of our Connections Program Coordinator.
That’s where you come in.
As the Connection Program Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for setting up the support group meeting space in preparation for the meetings. You’ll also play a vital role in member retention for the Connection program.
How you’ll get it done...
- Show up to existing meetings 30 minutes early to help set up the meeting space with our resource materials, charts and handouts.
- deliver flyers to valley organizations whose clientele can benefit from our support groups.
- Purchase/refill a few light snacks, coffee and coffee related items for the meetings.
- Help coordinate and support Connection trainings.
- Be a regular contributor to our Connection Facebook Page to generate activity.
- Assist in promoting Connection in the valley via social media, print, PSAs and outreach presentations.

- A personal connection with mental health either through family, friends or personal ties
- Enthusiasm for helping people, their families, teachers and faculty around mental health-related issues
- Strong communication, public speaking, and organizational skills
- Polished professionalism
- Reliable transportation
- A goals-oriented, leadership mindset, you enjoy sharing knowledge with others and advocating for important causes
- The ability to think critically about how to solve self-identified problems and execute solutions with approval
- The ability to perform and take initiative with minimal direction; you're a self-starter
