ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross

We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual to join the California AmeriCorps Disaster Team, through the American Red Cross. The Disaster Team has the unique opportunity to work on all sides of the recovery process by supporting both the Red Cross and our partner organizations, such as Cal OES, FEMA, etc. Members will serve in a full-time capacity (approximately 40 hours per week) to meet the requirement of 1,700 service hours throughout the 10.5-month term.

The Americorps member serving as the Workforce Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing "The Volunteer Experience" for disaster volunteers serving in Northern Coastal region. In times of disaster, this role will transition into fulfilling the disaster functions of the workforce team, which includes deploying disaster responders. Responsibilities will include weekend and evening commitments, and all members will be expected to participate in off-hours assignments. In addition, members of the Disaster Team may be required to deploy for two-week periods to assist with disasters within the State of California.

Requirements
  • Must be available to serve full-time from 09/2018 to 07/2019
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Hold a High School Diploma or GED
  • Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Desired: Bilingual language skills
