Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team responsible for providing quality care and support.
Hospice volunteers use their talent of listening and their gift of caring to provide patients and caregivers comfort and peace during the end of life process.
Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our team.
We understand that the relationship a volunteer and patient have is unique in a way the staff may not always have.
The Hospice volunteer role is instrumental in the emotional, and spiritual well-being of our patients.
Some things you should know about volunteering for Elara Caring
- There is no direct personal care involved
- You must be at least 17 years’ old
- You must have a drug test
- You must have a background check and fingerprint
- TB steps I & II are required
- There is training provided

Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you’ll ever spend.
Elara Caring Hospice is currently looking for Volunteers: Companion Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Veteran Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Crafting Volunteers. We have patients in need in outlying areas as well as the Grand Rapids Area. These areas include Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Wayland/ Hastings, Greenville, Rockford, Holland, and Saugatuck/Douglas.
