PROGRAM SUMMARY:

The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Audre Lorde Health Program offers a full range of primary medical care services to promote and protect women’s health. The Program is open to anyone who self-identifies as a woman some or all the time and is lesbian, bisexual or queer. This includes non-binary or gender-fluid people who want to access a women's space. To meet the unique needs of the women it serves, we offer GYN care, fertility, hormone balancing, well-woman care, as well as mental health and nutrition services. The Audre Lorde Health Program offers these services and more in a sex-positive/collaborative/body affirming environment.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports the staff of the Audre Lorde Health Program by helping promote healthy living and well-being by conducting weekly activity classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a safe, professional, and comprehensive activity program for the Audre Lorde Health Program;
  • Monitors and instructs participants during activity class by educating on proper form and modification based on ability;
  • Provided excellent customer service by promptly responding to participant needs and/or concerns before, during, and after class;
  • Record participation data and complete incident reports;
  • Manage the distribution and collection of the Center’s Release of Liability Waiver for every yoga class;
  • Self-report volunteer hours to program staff at the end of each month;
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience as an activity instructor;
  • Responsible, respectful and dependable;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation, and gender identities in a multicultural setting.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  • Opportunity based on experience;
  • Must provide proof of personal liability insurance.
