PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Audre Lorde Health Program offers a full range of primary medical care services to promote and protect women’s health. The Program is open to anyone who self-identifies as a woman some or all the time and is lesbian, bisexual or queer. This includes non-binary or gender-fluid people who want to access a women's space. To meet the unique needs of the women it serves, we offer GYN care, fertility, hormone balancing, well-woman care, as well as mental health and nutrition services. The Audre Lorde Health Program offers these services and more in a sex-positive/collaborative/body affirming environment.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with outreaching to women at special events actively distributing educational and promotional materials (including sexual health items) related to Audre Lorde Health Program services. Create and sustain working relationships with businesses and community members where outreach will be conducted.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Conduct outreach activities at locations where sexual minority women congregate.
2) Develop and maintain a working relationship with community business owners where outreach, workshop and support group activities are conducted.
3) Provide program education and referrals.
4) Refer to the Audre Lorde Health Program Clinic and other community resources.
5) Participate in community/public task forces/meetings as necessary
6) Collaborate with local agencies that conduct programs targeting sexual minority women
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Work in a fastāpaced environment
- Responsible, respectful and dependable
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation, and gender identities in a multicultural setting.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: Attendance and successful completion of a training session training program will include (but is not limited to) knowledge and experience on the following topics:
- Knowledge of STI transmission and prevention facts
- Facilitation skills including confidentiality and record keeping
- Sensitivity, communication, and diversity training
- Issues concerning sexual minority women
- Local resources for sexual minority women
